One-task-at-a-time Approach

You need to start with your short-term but visualize your long-term goals. By doing one-task-at-a-time, you see an immediate result which gives you a sense of accomplishment. It's a process of stringing these single tasks together which will get you to your long-term goals.

Here's a scenario: Suppose you've accumulated 2005 receipts (for business tax expenses & write-off's) but they're all stuffed in a box. You've done nothing to organize them. Here's what I suggest:

  • Choose a project folder
  • Spread all the receipts out on the floor
  • Start categorizing them; 'travel', 'entertainment', etc.
  • Once categorized, put them in chronological order
  • Make tab headings for each individual pocket and place the receipts in pouch

This may seem mundane, but it is the first step towards relieving stress and getting organized. You will be encouraged to do more.

There are many helpful tips on my site and I hope you will take the times to check them out. Stick with it and get organized; you're worth it!.
